A lot off noice in the hallway at Night time, the smell in the room, did't fell safe.
Alot of stores around, very convenient.
Feels like a vas neighborhood since the police are always driving up and down the streets with the sirens on. Also the hotel staff did not clean the room well and forgot to leave us the shower towels
Very Very Very Dirty and maybe unsafe place!
The hotel locate near O'hare airport, which is about 10min from the airport. Cleanses is not so bad.
WiFi worked only around the front.
The Receptionist that checked me in was very professional, friendly and helpful. And the Hotel driver that took me to the airport was also pleasant and forthcoming.
It would be ideal for the hotel to hire professional interior decorators to redo the poor effort made by armatures, to redecorate the rooms and bathrooms. Also it would be nice for the hotel to respond to guest's requests whether they can be meet or not.
Horrible place they save on every thing unssanitary. Gross
The fact that they offer a shuttle to the airport, but with a 10$/person cost. At our arrival the staff and security guard were nice and understanding of our situation with our delayed flight.
After taking a taxi to the Melrose because no one answered my inquiries about the shuttle, we got here around 12h20 am because our flight was delayed. Uppon arrival, we were told that our reservation had been cancelled at midnight, when we explained our situation to the people at the front desk, one of the receptionist's said they would try and accomodate us. She and the security guard were very friendly though. The hotel in itself is unclean, many stains on the carpets, would also need a fresh paint job. When we got to the room, again stained carpet, dirty washroom without towels but at least the sheets seemed clean. Would not stay here again, spend the extra cash for cleaner facilities.
Price is only selling point. I didn't want to pay $250-600 per night downtown during the first night of Lollapalooza Music Festival, so I booked this hotel. Internet free yes, Breakfast Free yes. Room seemed clean but quite dated.
Hotel was sold out, and some of my neighbors were loud, I was in my room less than 8 hours, only to sleep, and get internet and light breakfast. Check with hotel about "Free Airport Shuttle" you might need to check the fine print (I paid $11 dollars to share a cab).
The web site said there was a airport shuttle bus. But the web site did not indicate that the shuttle does not pick up after 11:00 pm. I needed to be picked up at Ohare at 11:45 pm. There was NO shuttle for me... I had to get a Taxi to the Travel Lodge at a cost of $50.00 U.S.... The in room phone did not work. I had to go to the front desk to use the hotel phone... No CNN..
We didn't stay long.
It was noisy, dirty and had terrible parking.
Nothing, we ended up leaving within the first 15 minutes of our stay.
Smelled so badly of smoke. Bar attached to hotel with questionable bystanders. Dirty room, hairs on bed. Bad part of town. I felt very unclean and unsafe so my 24 year old daughter and myself left right away and stayed at another hotel in the city.
Computers in the lobby need a printer so you can print maps/directions. I never did find the work out area - I think it's used for storage....
Shuttle driver Tony and front desk reception Patricia (?) were great. Tony told me how to get to the downtown part of the city without paying alot of money. Alot of good tips from him.
Hotel Manager not very friendly and the staff and him were eating breakfast with customers and a customer was waiting. Not very professional looking either. Walked around with a baseball cap on. Also, asked me questions which sounded like he was being nosy. Very uncomfortable.
Close to O'Hare Airport
Horrible breakfast, poor cleanliness of room, aloof staff.
The location, the neglect of property and the unruly guests.
